Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination, 2009

An examination for selection of candidates for appointment as Special Class Railway Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways will be held by the Union Public Service Commission on 26th July, 2009 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Railways (Railways Board) in the Gazette of India dated the 28th February, 2009.

Eligibility:
Age : Not less than 17 years and not more than 21 years as on 1st August, 2009. The upper age is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.

Educational Qualification: The intermediate or an equivalent examination of a University/Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in notice.

The qualifying marks in the case of Graduate Engineer Trainees is 60% in the concerned Engineering Degree examination in case of freshers as well as General & SEBC candidates. In case of SC & ST candidates the eligibility norm is Degree in the concerned Engineering discipline. Preference will be given to candidates having knowledge and / or experience in micro-processor based Control System.

Candidates who are awaiting final results may also apply. However, their cases will be considered only if the y finally pass the examination with requisite percentage of marks (only pass in case of SC/ST) and produce original certificate of passing on the date of interview.

Selection Procedure:
Eligible candidate will be called for written test comprising of (i) General Aptitude Test (2) Subject Knowledge Test to be conducted at Bhubaneswar. Candidate who qualifies in the written test shall be called for the interview.
